DSL Ideas and Suggestions :: All I want it to do is.......!/? What

If you have read my COD2 Game Server thread you know I am more into servers.

However I have been experimenting with DSL here lately and I have asked it to do some tasks it was never ment to do. It has performed very well, even better then the mainstream distro's we tested. I believe the 2.4 kernal is more stable for what I do. Normally we roll our own kernals, but DSL has worked without modifications.

And again I ask more of it, I would like it to be an idiot proof email gateway. Meaning it runs from ram and can be powered off at any time Why you ask, because, I work with people that are to smart for there own good and I have to use Linux servers to protect them from the evils of MS web & email systems.  Task:

Install
PostFix
imapd
Iptables
Spamassassin
Razor
ClamAV
Procmail

Big list, I know it goes against the grain (Closer to 150 megs) but it is what  I will be doing for the next while, I ran accross an old post that someone had made a web server version. Wondered if it was still around? I hope to have this going soon.

You should be able to easily build your own web server.

On the Live CD is Monkey web server (located in /opt); which should ONLY be ran from the live CD due to monkey security issues).

Or you can get XAMMP for an Apache server from http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xammp.html

There's no documentation support for monkey, but there's lots of support for Apache and XAMMP :)

Good luck, cause it sounds like the folks you're dealing with need all the help they can get!

XAMPP would be the absolute best method for making a webserver,  It is light, fasts, contains EVERYTHING for a solid webserver..and with just a tiny tiny bit of tweakage set it for good security...

I have another solution for you...how about Zoho Virtual Office
Quote
Zoho Virtual Office
Zoho Virtual Office is a web-based, groupware, collaboration software. It gives you an array of applications, that includes Email, Documents, Calendar, Tasks, Contacts, Notes, Links, IM and more. The power of collaboration comes in when these individual components are shared and used within a group. Zoho Virtual Office allows users to create multiple groups, and use all of these components within groups unleashing the real power of collaboration. We believe that true collaboration software should provide location independence, platform independence, machine independence and browser independence. So, no matter wherever you are, whichever OS or machine or browser* you use, you can access Zoho Virtual Office from any PC and work the same way you do sitting on your home machine.

Just install the system as frugal....get the reiserfs tools using apt...format a partition for persistant (/home /opt) directories..then install this completely stand alone package deal..now your peeps have full bore webmail from any computer in the office..just log into the virtual office webpage and booyah!!!111oneoneone
